My daughter was born on 5/5/06. Following 3 months of extreme fussiness, painful cries and incolsolablility, her GI doctor put her on Neocate as an experiment (try it for two weeks and see if there is improvement). We've been on it for about 5 days now. The first two days were great! What an improvement. Now, however, she's back to being fussy, spitting up (something she never did before) all the time and gassiness. Once she spits up or passes gas she's more comfortable and stops crying/fidgeting until it starts all over again. Her doctor also has us thickening her formula with Beechnut rice cereal (a change from the Gerber rice cereal that we had her on before). Any ideas as to why she would suddenly develop these symptoms and how we might eleviate them?
How do I prepare the Infant Neocate? I am confused with the 5oz preparation because it says to add powder first, then water? That makes no sense. Is that right? Also, for the other higher ounces it says to add an ounce less of water for preparation yet it says elsewhere to add an once of water per every ounce of powder, meaning same amount of powder and water but it contradicts itself where the ounces are listed and water amounts. It skips alot of ounces as well This is extremely confusing. How to i prepare it?thank you.
My 4 1/2 month old baby has been diagnosed with a milk and possible soy intolerance. I did an eliminate milk and soy for a month and saw great improvement but when I added the milk and soy back into my diet, the colickiness , vomiting, excessive spit up, gassiness and blood in the stools started up again. So I went back on the restrictive diet but my baby seems to have developed a bottle preference so I must now supplement with formula (mostly during the day, she still nurses fine at night). I've tired pumping all day but this is way too much so I've decided to supplement. We've tried almost every formula....and she vomits them all, except for Alimentum. She's been on Alimentum for almost a week now. There has been no blood so far but she's colicky, gassy, and has started waking up every 1-3 hours throughout the entire night. She's normally a great sleeper and napper when dairy free but not for the past 4 days. Could the Alimentum be causing these symptoms since it is dairy based?
